Wild Things: N & G – Part 1

In the realm of photography, there is something truly magical about capturing the raw, authentic love and moments between couples. Every couple has a unique story to tell, and as a photographer, my goal is to immortalize their connection through my lens.

One of my newest ventures has been to help couples break out of the realm of “standard”, and customize their photo sessions (and hopefully weddings) to fit their unique relationship. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing N and G, and their session was an epic adventure from their formal portraits (part one) to their wild side (part 2, coming soon!).

The Formal Beginnings

As with all of the “Wild Things” sessions so far, N and G’s photo session started with the “normal” formal portraits. They both dressed up, and we headed downtown to a new favorite spot of mine. This first portion of our session is just to prove that yes, dressed up photos are fab, but that’s not the only thing we should be doing.

Capturing Genuine Emotion

As a photographer, my role really isn’t to document the external beauty of a couple, but instead to capture the emotions they share. N and G are a badass couple anyway, but their session was really a testament to the power of authenticity. Their natural chemistry together was obvious, but the little things are my favorite; the way he looks at her, the way she laughs at his jokes, they way they move well together. These are the things that truly speak to their relationship, not just the pretty outfits and location.

Photography is Preservation

Photography serves as a time capsule, freezing moments and enabling us to revisit them whenever we want. Sometimes looking back at a photograph actually helps to complete a memory, since we get to see ourselves in the moment through another’s eyes. That is the WHY behind photography, and what I hope each of the couples I work with receive from their images – these images become heirlooms, cherished by future generations as a testament to the enduring power of love.

Wild Things FAQ

1. Can we incorporate our own ideas or themes into the “Wild Things” session? Absolutely! The essence of “Wild Things” lies in personalization. I encourage couples to express their unique style, interests, and ideas, as it adds an extra layer of authenticity to the session. Just wait until you see what N & G did for the second half of their session!

2. How long does a typical “Wild Things” session last? The session length varies depending on the couple and the locations chosen. Most of my couples choose a two to three hour session, again just depending on the location and design of the specific session.

3. Do we need professional modeling experience for a “Wild Things” session? Nope! Most of the couples I work with have never had professional photos taken, and often they’re nervous. That’s my job! I will make sure you’re completely comfortable and know what to do.

4. Can we include our pets in the session? Absolutely! Pets are part of the family, and their inclusion adds an extra layer of joy and authenticity to the session. If you’re interested in a session just reach out, and we’ll go over what a perfect session for you looks like!

Stay wild. xx
